Hi there! My name is Ivan, the Founder of PricePilot, a price comparison platform that enables you to shop for and find the best prices on Smart Home products.
In February 2024, I had an epiphany while navigating various price comparison sites and major retailers. Despite the many options available, a critical gap in the shopping experience was evident.
Working as a UX designer in e-commerce has shown me that surprisingly, even the giants in this space (like Walmart, Amazon, Honey, and Google Shopping) fail to enable shoppers to compare products side-by-side. To me, this feature isn’t just a nice to have; it’s essential for making informed decisions in the customer shopping journey. Additionally, and for obvious reasons, retailers don’t show competitor prices on product pages.
Here’s where PricePilot comes in. Our price comparison platform (that is launching in a few months) has been designed to provide a more comprehensive shopping experience by integrating an intuitive search, side-by-side product comparison, and price comparison. Price History and Price Drop Alerts, key features every savvy shopper requires to find the best prices, are on our roadmap as fast-follows.
While the above features are what I believe are foundational, what excites me most about is exploring how to integrate conversational AI into the PricePilot experience, making every user feel like they have a personal shopping assistant.
Imagine asking, “What should I consider when buying a Smart Lock?” or requesting a comparison of Smart Locks within your budget, and getting personalized, insightful answers on the spot. My experiments with CustomGPTs and a database of TV products (rather than Smart Locks or Smart products) have been promising, hinting at a game-changing feature for online shopping that can be used across various product categories.
Now, why Smart Home products? While my ambition is to redefine the e-commerce experience and allow people to shop for all types of products (that you could find on Best Buy, Walmart, or Amazon), I’m starting with a niche that I will be shopping for as I’m building out my own Smart home.
